A few months ago, I was juggling a lot: gearing up for my wedding, traveling internationally, staying consistent with my health and gym routine, and (of course) keeping up with work.
I started having trouble sleeping, which, if you know me, you'd know that I love naps and I love sleep. There has never been a movie I've met that I wouldn’t fall asleep to, and I can nap just about anywhere (on a rock in the wilderness + sleeping through mid-flight plane malfunctions).
Me trying to catch a nap in backcountry of Arizona, the Grand Canyon, and Sierra Nevada Mountains.
So when I started having trouble falling asleep, I thought, “What the actual eff is this?”
My doctor + nutritionist said it was probably hormonal or stress induced and recommended focusing on sleep hygiene. So, I pulled out all the stops:
- Little Moon Aromatherapy Essentials (Their lavender headache rub is my favorite)
- Magnesium Lotion (& I take nightly supplements, but talk to your doctor!)
- Eye Mask, or this Eye Mask (no eye pressure)
- Red light therapy
- Avoiding screens before bed
- Deep breathing and meditation
- Ear Plugs - or you can get these if you don't lose them every 5 seconds like me!
- Calming tea

It wasn’t just nights either. During the day I was drained. My creativity felt clogged, my focus scattered, and instead of tackling client work or designing with ease, I was dragging myself through mud.
My poor brain was overworked and under-rested.
So I started researching ruminating thoughts and discovered the magic of brain dumps.
I started making lists in a bedside journal - work lists, client lists, personal lists, meal lists, grocery lists, and chore lists.
ALL THE THINGS.
And something shifted. My head got quiet. I started sleeping again. And those late-night lists? They turned into the foundation for new ideas in my business.
And here’s the funny part: that messy little journal actually became the birthplace of some of my biggest business ideas.
